There happens to be several large physical therapy providers in the united states. The market along with the few heavy hitters is primarily composed of smaller independent providers. Although the industry has several large providers none of the companies account for more than 5.0% of the total industry

  • Paul J. Diaz has served as Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Healthcare, Inc. since January 1, 2004, and was President from January 2002 through May 2012. Mr. Diaz is an attorney and accountant, earning a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting from American University’s Kogod School of Business and a law degree from Georgetown University. Mr. Diaz currently serves on the Board of Directors of DaVita (NYSE:DVA) and the Board of Visitors of Georgetown University Law Center. He is also a member of the Business Roundtable and the Wall Street Journal CEO Council. He was formerly on the Board of PharMerica Corporation (NYSE:PMC), the Board of the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University and the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Suburban Hospital Healthcare Systems in Bethesda, Maryland. In the past seven years, Modern Healthcare magazine named Mr. Diaz one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.  In 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, Modern Healthcare named him one of the top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare.  In addition, in 2008, 2009 and 2013 Hispanic magazine named Mr. Diaz one of the 25 Best Latinos in business.

  • Benjamin A. Breier has served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Kindred Healthcare since May 2012. He was named Chief Operating Officer in August 2010. Previously he served as Executive Vice President and President of Kindred’s Hospital Division from March 2008 to August 2010. Mr. Breier served as President of Kindred’s Rehabilitation Division from August 2005 to March 2008. Prior to joining the Company, he served as Concentra, Inc.’s Senior Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Operations. Before this time, Mr. Breier served as Director of Operations at Premier Practice Management, Inc. He joined Premier as Chief Operating Officer in January 1997 and became Chief Executive Officer in June 1998. Premier Practice Management was a subsidiary of Premier, Inc., the largest hospital group purchasing alliance in the U.S. Mr. Breier received his bachelor’s in economics from the Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Henry, a speech pathologist, has been Executive Vice President, Skilled Rehabilitation Services Operations, RehabCare since June 1, 2011 when Kindred acquired RehabCare Group, Inc. Prior to the acquisition, Ms. Henry was the Executive Vice President, Operations of RehabCare from October 2006 to June 2011. She has more than 25 years of experience in rehabilitation services, which has given her an in-depth understanding of the operational elements and regulatory/reimbursement environments of various post-acute settings. A licensed speech-language pathologist, she is active with the Texas Health Care Association in addition to her role with the American Health Care Association.
